The tourist site Ponikva is located in the hills of the Osogovo Mountains, at 1580 m above sea level, covered with dense beech forest and various grassy vegetation.
Due to the favorable climate, Ponikva is an extraordinary place for summer and winter tourism. Ponikva is one of the 34 winter tourist centers in the spatial plan of the Republic of Macedonia, occupies a particularly important place in the development of tourism and the general development of Osogovo.
20 km north of Kocani, in the hills of the Osogovo Mountains, on the 1580 to 1620 m altitude is the tourist site Ponikva. The accommodation capacity of the four motels and the former children’s resort from MOI, now an open-for all visitors, is about 220 beds. The tourist offer in the last years includes 50 weekend-houses in the complex, and the affordable prices in the accommodation and catering facilities also have their place.
Ponikva is the most visited in the winter. For white sports lovers, there are two ski slopes available with ski lifts. On Ponikva there is a Tourist Info Center and there is the monastery St. Vasilij the Great which is a religious object at the highest altitude of Osogovo.
