Grandmother Vanga (31 January 1911 – 11 August 1996) was a Bulgarian clairvoyant, known all over the world for her divine gift to predict the future and help people in moments.
During the last years of her life she invested in the building of the chapel “St. Petka Bulgarska” in the locality of Rupite, Petrich. The project in question as well as the paintings were done by Svetlin Rusev. By Vanga’s explicit volition, all her movable and immovable property was bequeathed to the Bulgarian state and her house in Petrich was turned into a museum exhibition in 2008. Baba Vanga spent much of her time there. The house was built in 1947. Over 3000 objects are displayed – icons, artworks, clothes, personal belongings, pictures, gifts from people Vanga helped with her predictions. The house was restored to the way it looked when it was used by the prophetess.
On the first floor is the kitchen and next to it is the room for parying with many icons and tapestries. The place where Vanga would meet with people was also preserved authentically.
