The church of Sveti Velikomachenik Georgi Pobedonosets was built and consecrated in 1835.
It was burned twice – in 1840, when the liberation movements began in Serbia and Montenegro and during the Kresna-Razlog Uprising (1878-1879) when it was almost completely destroyed. The whole village of Banya was burned too, more than 70 people were killed, 600 residents of the village left it. The church is recovered after the Kresna-Razlog uprising, and the iconostasis is restored years later in 1889.
It is interesting that on the south side of the temple there is an iconography from 1866, which remains intact during the burning of the church. In 1912, during the Liberation War, the temple was shot, and the Turks slammed the eyes of the saints. Every visitor will see the traces of bullets and mutilated saints.
The church is declared a monument of culture.
