The Museum collection in Strumyani was opened in 2002. In 2014 was moved to the newly established Visitor Center (former school) Strumyani.
The arrangement of the exposition is done by specialists from the National Museum of History and students of New Bulgarian University. The exposition is divided into three departments – archeology, ethnography, new and newest history. The exposed artifacts were found during excavations and studies in the area, or have been donated by local residents.
The earliest exhibits in the archaeological collection are from the early Neolithic of the 6th millennium BC. The Iron Age with various ornaments such as bracelets and bangles of that time and a collection of ceramic vessels, mainly from the period of Roman domination on these lands, is also presented.
Exposed is the altar table, the marble fountain courtyard of the early Christian basilica and the central panel of a mosaic of Christ monogram “Hrizma”. Here the visitors can see the original ABC book from the cell school in the village of Gorna Ribnitsa, opened in 1844, which is the first one in the entire region of Melnik.
