Satovcha municipality is situated in the Southwest Rhodope Mountains and covers parts of the Mesta river valley and the south-eastern part of the Dabrashki mountainous share.
There are three reserves in the municipality of Satovcha:
- The Horse Valley Reserve with a century-old mixed forest of fir, spruce and beech.
- The Dark Forest Rezerve, situated on the border between the Municipality of Satovcha and the Municipality of Garmen.
- Selection reserve “Dikchan”, owned by the “Dikchan” State Forestry – village of Satovcha.
The village of Dolen is a cultural and historical reserve. Dolen is a village with cultural monuments of national importance with 70 cultural monuments of the Renaissance and over 10 Roman bridge.
Satovcha is also known as the municipality with the most numerous public fountains on its territory built by its inhabitants. This is an old tradition in the Rhodopes by which people commemorate their deceased family member.
