Razlog municipality is located in the eponymous valley in Southwest Bulgaria, between the mountains Pirin, Rila and Rhodopes.
The municipality covers large parts of National Parks “Rila” and “Pirin” whose divine nature is full of a variety of organicplant and animal species. Between North Pirin and Southwest Rila Mountains, among deciduous and coniferous forests, at 12 km from the city is located the saddle “Predela” – which is beautiful and pleasant recreational place suitable for routes in the two mountains.
In Banya village presence of more than 70 hot mineral springs and its picturesquelocation are a precondition for its development as a spa resort. Bachevo, in the slopes of Rila Mountain, is balneological and climatic resort of local importance. Eleshnitsa, in the western foothills of the Rhodope Mountains, is also known for its mineral springs.
The city has kept many houses from the National Revival period as Chepintsi – Razlog house and Parapunova house in which was opened Museum of History. The old church “Saint George” /1834/ is declared cultural monument in town.
In the center of Dobarsko village is situated the unique church “St. St. Theodore Tyron and Theodore Stratilat “/1614/ – one of 100 national tourist sites in Bulgaria, with extremely high architectural and artistic value. Another church “Sretenie Gospodne” (Candlemas) /1860/ is also a cultural monument. One national legend tells that in Dobarsko wеre colonized part of the blinded Samuel soldiers after the Belasitsa battle of 1014. That fact is associated with Dobarsko Singing School for blind musicians.
