Hadzhidimovo municipality is situated in Southwest Bulgaria, on the territory of Blagoevgrad District.
The municipal territory includes the southern part of the eastern slopes of the Pirin Mountains, part of the mountain Slavyanka, small part of the southwestern slopes of the Dubrava hill in the Western Rhodopes, and part of Gotse Delchev Hollow and the Mesta River Valley areas.
Hadzhidimovo has long history. In ancient times from here, along the Mesta River passes one of the important ways to the central artery of the Balkan Peninsula Via Egnatia. In 1911 in the area Kotubare was found a stone tomb with bronze, silver and pottery, silver and gold jewelry. Here is also found an icon of St. George by Atanas Lazarov from Gorna Singartiya. At the place where the icon was found was built the monastery “St. George” in 1865, which was declared a cultural monument. Near the city is situated a chapel “St. Dimitar”. In the village of Koprivlen is situated the ancient settlement “Kozluka”. In the city Hadzhidimovo is located late antique medieval castle “St. Dimitar”.
The biggest tourist resource of the municipality are the mountains Slavyanka and Stargach. Slavyanka Mountain is the most southern mountain in Bulgaria, known until 1955 under the name Alibotush. The mountain is a unique and unknown to tourists. Several dozens of species are endemic and can be found only in this region. The most famous is the alibotush tea. Stargach Mountain is the smallest and lowest mountain of Rila-Rhodope area. Climatic and soil conditions have contributed to theformation of a novel, specific sub-Mediterranean flora and fauna.
