The “Lord of the Mountains” eco-path goes from “Semkovo” up to the “Valcha Polyana” meadow through a white pine forest, then goes down to Stankova River then on through Gorno Yavorovo.
Length: 5 km
Duration: 4 hours
The bear is the largest carnivore of our fauna and therefore we call it the Lord of the Mountain. He needs the peace of wild forests. Wherever the forest is “tamed” the bear has given way to civilization. Bulgaria is one of the few European countries that still enjoy their bears. Here are the last representatives of southern European brown bears are preserved.
They are lighter, smaller and less aggressive than their northern relatives. Along the route are constructed wooden bridges, tower for watching wildlife and photo safari combined with hay-feeder, tourist shelter, safe fireplace and fountain. The road passes through the habitats most preferred by the bear – the deciduous forests, dotted with open meadows, rich in a variety of berries.
You will also see on the path the red forest ant inhabitations – large nests above the ground, which sometimes reach up to 2 m in height and up to 3 m in diameter but the main part of their nest are underground.
