The church “St. Prophet Elias” was built in 1844, as with the expansion of the village the oldest church in Kresna – “St. Virgin Mary “(1750) became small to gather the laymen.
Built on the highest central part of the village, on the western side of the main square. It was declared a monument of culture. Over the years it has been burned and rebuilt twice, gaining its current appearance in 1925. The church is richly decorated with icons; the iconostasis is not wood-carved. In this church was baptized the famous Bulgarian revolutionary Yane Sandanski, whose native place was the village of Vlahi.
