The church “St. St. Peter and Paul “or” The Council of the Holy Apostles “is an Orthodox church in the Simitlian village of Mechkul.
It was declared a monument of culture. The church was built in 1892. Architecturally, it is a three-nave, built of stone, pseudo-basilica, without a dome and with an open porch in the south. The roof is sloped tiled and has three metal crosses. The main entrance is from the west, and there is a second one from the south. Near the northwest corner of the temple on a metal construction is attached a bell, cast in 1898, which is decorated with donors’ inscriptions. On the west facade is painted the scene of the “Doomsday”. The frescoes and the iconostasis were made by the Bansko painter Mikhalko Golev in 1898 – 1899. Valuable are also the bishop’s throne, the pulpit, the forged candlesticks and the sponsors’ chairs.
