The temple has existed since antiquity. The excavations of the foundations of the temple of St. Petka found remnants of pottery that date back to the period of the reign of Ivan Assen II.
It is assumed that the temple was built during this period, and proof is the ceramics that remained. Evidence that there was life can be judged on the nowadays existing excavated and dried borehole logs, the diameter of which is 2 meters, and below the roots of which there is ceramics dating from the time of Ivan Assen II.
Today, an imposing Orthodox temple has been erected on the ruins of an old sanctuary. Its construction began in 2007 and is raised entirely by voluntary work and donations. The brothers Stoyan and Todor Trayanov are the initiators for the construction of the temple. The bell tower is almost ready and the painting of the iconostasis is forthcoming. The church holiday is on October 14 and is marked by a sacrificial rite for health.
