Church “Nativity of the Virgin” or “Holy Virgin” was built in the 20s of the last century, in the center of Simitli, on the right bank of the Struma River.
But in 1912 began the settlement of Christians from the neighboring villages. The church is a memorial for the fallen soldiers of the Seventh Rila Infantry Division at the Battle of Simitli during the Balkan war in 1912. As of 1922 the population began to experience an acute need for a temple to meet the spiritual needs of the local population and take initiatives to build the temple. It was painted and sanctified in 1929. Since then the temple is operational and used for the needs of the laity from the town of Simitli. Architecturally, it is a three-nave pseudo-basilica with a narthex and a bell tower at the west. The interior shows the high artistic quality of the painter.
