Bike Tour of Belasitsa
Route 1: Petrich – Strumitsa – Petrich
Distance: ~ 113 км
The route has a total length of 113 km and 1400 meters of climb. From the start point in Petrich it goes along the road № 198, passes by the village of Parvomay, the village of Strumeshnitsa, the Samuilova Krepost Museum and the border between Bulgaria and Macedonia at the Zlatarevo border checkpoint. In Macedonia, the route passes through the following settlements: Novo Konjarevo, Samoilovo village, Novo Selo, village of Mokrievo, Borisovo village, village of Koleshino, Bansko village, village of Svidovitsa, village of Kuklish and town of Strumitsa. From Strumitsa the participants will return to Petrich on the same route. Information and support points: Petrich (in front of the municipality building), Samuilova Krepost Museum, Zlatarevo GCK, Bansko (Macedonia).
Route 2: Petrich – Strumitsa – Doyran – Greece – Petrich.
Distance: ~ 185 км
The route is 185 km long with 2790 m of ascent. To the town of Strumitsa this route follows Route 1 and then it continues through the Valandovski pass to Kosturino, Nov and Star Doyran, where is the stop for the night. The next day, we continue to Greece via Doyran, along the villages of Pataros, Stamos Morion, Kastanousa, Neohori, Mandraki and Neo Petritzi at Kulata Border Point. We will pass by the northern shores of the picturesque Lake Kerkini and under the steep southern slopes of Belasitsa. From Kulata village and through the village of Drangovo we return to Petrich.
