“Uspenie Bogorodichno” Revival Church is located in the center of the town of Gotse Delchev, amidst the central town garden.
A decision to build this imposing temple in the Varosh quarter was made in the 1920s, because the only church in the town at that time “Sabor Na Sveti Arhangeli Mihail I Gavrail” fails to cover all the needs of the growing Christian community in Nevrokop (Gotse Delchev). The building permit was given in 1830 and the construction started in 1833 but was soon interrupted due to a raging epidemic in the city. After its completion the construction was renewed. The temple was consecrated in 1838, but finishing works continued until 1841. In architectural terms, the church was a three-nave pseudo-basilica with an apse in the east. The open trember in the southwest corner was rebuilt into a chapel. The church is built of successive rows of stones and bricks, and in the masonry are used capitals and columns from an older temple. In 1904 a bell tower with two bells was attached.
The temple has many valuable portable icons from the Renaissance. Today the church is a functioning Orthodox temple and has the status of a monument of culture of local importance. Nearby is the cathedral temple of the Nevrocopian diocese – the church “St. St. Cyril Methodius and St. Prophet Elijah.
