The megalithic stone sanctuary “St. Mina” is located in the Amina area near the village of Mechkul.
The ancient rock-cult complex is located in close proximity to the chapel of St. Mina – protector of the Christian family and the saint who fulfills the desires, built by the inhabitants of Mechkul in the 1950s.
Archeological research in the area has found that there have been settlements here since Neolithic (7000-3000 BC). The archaeological field research in the area of the nearby Krupnik village proves the existence of significant ancient settlement of the Thracian tribe – the Medi.
Local traditions and legends keep the memories of an old Roman road where wine was created from the vineyards located in the area. Another legend tells of the cult place that Alexander the Great himself had visited the sanctuary, and the priestess here foretold him to become Lord of the World. Today the rock formations in the area can be seen as a Lark, the Step of Krali Marko, a Lion Head and an Eagle Fish.
