The rock sanctuary “Kayaliyski rocks” was formed about 250-300 million years ago.
They are located in the “Kayaliezzo” area at 1600 m above sea level, on the territory of the village of Kovachevitsa, among a century old pine and spruce wood. They occupy an area of 8 hectares and represent a unique complex of enormous protruding rocks and rock wreaths up to 70 m high, the limestone of which was spherically shaped by the wind blows.
The rock phenomenon has the status of a natural landmark since 1984.
The best time to visit is from May to October. The route is relatively easy, it is marked starting from the Beslet locality and allows independent climbing without a mountain guide.
The rock sanctuary “Kayaliyska skali” is located in the Kayaliezoto locality, 16 km along an asphalt road north-east of the center of Kovachevitsa and 4 km along a dirt road north-northeast of the Beslet locality leading to the foothills of the Kalyali Rocks ).
